One of the 3 biggest festival in Kyoto that Kamigamo and Shimogamo Shrines hold on May 15th every year.
Aoi leaves ( Asarum Caulescens, species of the wild ginger) are the symbolic decoration on the floats. Date : May 15th The event will be postponed in case of rain. The parade will leave from Kenrei Gate south at 10:30 am.
Jidai Matsuri Festival known as one of the three Kyoto’s biggest festivals, along with Aoi Matsuri Festival and Gion Matsuri Festival, is organized by Heian Jingu Shrine. The parade of 2,000 people in the costumes of old times featuring Enryaku era( 782-806 ) to Meiji era (1868- 1912) going through Kyoto City is spectacular.
