It feeds on the internal tissues of trees such as cherry, plum, and peach, causing them to weaken and eventually die. Under Japan\u2019s Invasive Alien Species Act, it is designated as a<strong><span style=\"color: #339966;\"> Specified Invasive Alien Species<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In Japan, the species was first discovered in 2012 (Heisei 24) on cherry trees in Aichi Prefecture. As of the end of fiscal year 2025 (Reiwa 7), its presence has been confirmed in 17 prefectures.
